Who are we? |
|
The
mission of DE KONING DRINKT is to offer to a broad
public authentic wines at a fair price. Our focus in this process:
the grape, the grape and euh, the grape.
Furthermore we intend to inform to a maximum our public regarding
the wines we sell, the people that make them and the regions that
they come from. Drinking wine is as much about "knowing"
as it is about tasting and savouring. Here the internet can be of
great help, and we hope you appreciate our web site.
That's about it for the mission and manifesto part, now it's up
to the wine to speak for itself...
Oh yes, we are located in Belgium. But as good
wine transcends all frontiers... Please contact us if you are interested
in buying our wine. We can work something out. |

05/11/2007, Borsbeek
2006 was a fabulous wine year for Austria. Proof are the Veltliners
of Birgit Eichinger and the
red Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch
of Birgit Braunstein. Among
the sweet wines the Cuvée Spätlese from
Hans Tschida is once more reaching
for the top...
15/09/2007, Borsbeek
More beautiful wines from the German Palatine. We found very mineral
white in the shape of Weissburgunder and Grauburgunder
at Klaus Scheu's in Schweigen. In
the same village right on the French border Friedrich
Becker is making some of the most reputed German Spätburgunders
(a.k.a. Pinot Noir). Finally a "golden oldie": vintage 2005
of the red Dornfelder from Thomas
Siegrist.
15/06/2007,

With the summer approaching DE KONING DRINKT loanches a devastating
white wine offensive. From Graziano Fontana
we received vintage 2006 of the Müller-Thurgau
and the Sauvignon. Now available from the Cesconi
brothers: the whites Prabi Bianco and Nosiola.
19/05/2007,
Dittelsheim-Hessloch
In the German region of Rheinhessen Stefan
Winter makes wonderful Rieslings with a crystal
clear expression.
11/05/2007, Borsbeek
Now available: exceptional new vintages of the Bardolino
of Le Fraghe (2006) and the Valpolicella
of Brigaldara (2005).
15/11/2006, Borsbeek
Hans Tschida is an international
reference in the domain of sweet wines. In blind tastings his wines
have repeatedly outclassed reputed Sauternes and Austrian renowned
names such as Kracher.
16/10/2006, Borsbeek
Cesconi is a name that rings like
a bell not only in the Italian province of Trentino. The Cesconi brothers
(the four of them) are widely known for their fine white wines and
their powerful, sophisticated reds.
14/06/2006, Borsbeek
The Italian "Marche" is a little known region in which are
produced very interesting white and red wines. The Sangiovese
and Montepulciano of the wine farm Ciù
Ciù (pronounce: "choochoo") are part of a new
world to be discovered!
09/06/2006, Borsbeek
The Prosecco is a grape from which are made excellently
fresh and drinkable sparkling wines, by, among others, Le
Colture. Apricot in a bubbling bottle against very competitive
prices!
09/07/2005, Borsbeek
True, it was not too difficult to convince us of the quality of the
Valpolicellas of the reputed Veronese house of Brigaldara.
The Valpolicella Classico as well as the Amarone
emphasize Stefano Cesari's ambition to create drinkable wines without
forsaking on the region's deep-rooted traditions...
10/05/2005,
Borsbeek
Birgit Braunstein was crowned
Austrian "Winzerin des Jahres" last year. For whom has tasted
her red Blaufränkisch, St. Laurent
or the Oxhoft cuvée, this may not come as
a surprise...
10/05/2005,
Borsbeek
Birgit Eichinger is one of the
new Austrian ambassadors of the Grüner and Roter
Veltliner. In the Kamptal these typical Austrian whites obtain
a sublime and mineral expression.
12/11/2004,
Sondrio
Top-Nebbiolos at a very un-Piedmontese price? We went nosing around
in Valtellina (Northern Lombardy, Italy) and look
what we found... Roberto Marsetti
makes very complex but drinkable wines having a massive potential!
12/11/2004, Faedo
Although Graziano Fontana, after
Pojer & Sandri the leading producer in Faedo
(Trentino), is a reputed "bianchista",
we had better not neglect his high quality red wines. Moreover reds
and whites are both available at unbeatable prices...
11/11/2004, Salurn
Haderburg is reputed for its
30.000 bottles of "sekt" leaving Salurn (South Tyrol)
each year, and which are counted among Italy's finest. But please
do not underestimate Aloïs Ochsenreiter's Chardonnay and Blauburgunder
wines...
24/07/2004,
Ayl
Climate and landscape are at their most extreme in the German Saar.
The ideal circumstances to produce, like Peter
Lauer, wonderfully mineral and dry Rieslings, characterized by
the typical "schieffer".
12/06/2004, Cavaion Veronese
Authenticity and "bevibilità" : these are the key
words applicable to the Bardolino of Matilde
Poggi's "Le Fraghe". No muscle rolling here, but sophistication
and exuberant fruit.
07/04/2004, Bozen
Our weakness for Tyrollean wines is about to become
legendary, and we have always been disturbed by the lack of supply
of these "tropfen" in the Low Countries. About time to do
something about it, and can anyone imagine a better start than the
wines of the widely praised and no-nonsense wine maker Georg
Ramoser?
